Basically 2001 cars are the best. 2000-01 cars are the same other than the fact that used '01 cars will be newer and several small problems found with any brand new car were sorted out. That's not to say 2000 cars aren't good, because most of the "problems" are dumb things you can fix in your driveway. 2002 cars would be my third choice, but there are two things I don't like about them. The shift mechanism was changed to move the shift gates apart, due to many uncoordinated people mis-shifting 2000-01 cars and blowing up the engine and getting a lot of warranty replacement engines. To go along with this, they lowered the rev limit from 8350 to 7600 rpm, not good at all. The shifter, you might not mind it, but the rev limit is a big problem. You can fix the rev limit by changing to an 00-01 knock sensor and ECU, or getting a Power FC. Stay away from 2003-05 cars. For one, they're ugly, but the big problem is that they changed to drive by wire throttle. The Power FC is not compatible with the drive by wire. So in summary, you want wither a 2001, 2000 or 2002 car, in that order.
